Rooting

It’s not the losing each other I feared,

It’s the journey back that ached my bones.

It’s the harking back to you, free of doubt.

—But oh, how complete

You were there; you started.

The unhinging

The sacral touch

The freefall undone

And now the vast embrace,

As I rooted my heart in you.
